Position summary
The Supplier Quality Manager helps LSO Media Group's consumer goods procurement division evaluate whether sourced products meet agreed specifications and customer expectations. Reporting to the division's Vice President, you will develop a proportionate quality process for the product categories approved for the business. That process will connect supplier qualification, sample evaluation, incoming checks, customer feedback and corrective action.
You will work closely with sourcing and fulfillment colleagues while retaining the judgment to flag unsuitable products or incomplete evidence. The role requires practical knowledge of inspection, root-cause analysis and supplier improvement, with specialist testing or regulatory questions referred to appropriately qualified providers and Legal. Early work will define what can be verified internally, what requires external evidence, and how product concerns are contained and escalated.
Responsibilities
- Translate approved product specifications and customer requirements into documented acceptance criteria and inspection instructions.
- Assess supplier quality capability through records, samples, process reviews and visits where justified by the assignment.
- Define risk-based incoming checks and coordinate external testing when an approved product category requires specialist evidence.
- Record defects consistently and maintain traceability between purchase orders, product lots, inspection findings and supplier responses.
- Coordinate containment of suspect goods with fulfillment staff and escalate release, withdrawal or customer-notification decisions to the responsible leaders.
- Lead supplier corrective-action follow-up, checking whether proposed changes address the cause and prevent recurrence.
- Review quality trends with sourcing and planning colleagues and recommend changes to specifications or supplier selection.
- Maintain a clear evidence trail for quality decisions and route product safety or regulatory questions to qualified specialists.
Required qualifications
- Experience in supplier quality, product quality or related manufacturing and distribution work, typically four or more years.
- Practical skill in inspection planning, defect classification, root-cause analysis and corrective-action verification.
- Ability to interpret product specifications and identify where evidence or specialist testing is missing.
- Experience communicating quality concerns to suppliers and business teams with clear documentation and follow-through.
- Strong analytical judgment and a relevant degree, technical training or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with consumer goods inspection or third-party testing providers.
- Training in quality auditing, statistical process control or a related quality discipline.
- Experience improving quality processes in a growing procurement or distribution operation.
Measures of success
- Product acceptance decisions are supported by appropriate criteria and evidence.
- Significant defects are contained promptly and recurring supplier issues receive verified corrective action.
- Sourcing decisions reflect current supplier quality performance.
First 90 days
Map the division's approved product categories and identify the quality evidence needed for each. Agree inspection and escalation responsibilities with sourcing, fulfillment and Legal. Introduce a defect log and supplier corrective-action process, evaluate representative samples or available records, and present a prioritized quality improvement plan with any specialist testing needs and resource requirements.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $85,000–$115,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
What to include in your application
Share a nonconfidential example of a supplier quality problem you investigated, how you contained it and how you verified that corrective action worked.
