Position summary
LSO Media Group is seeking a Streaming Operations Specialist to support the day-to-day delivery of its media content through approved streaming outlets. Reporting to the Director of Content Distribution, you will monitor service health, check content readiness and investigate problems affecting live or on-demand playback. You will work with distribution, scheduling and technical colleagues to keep operating information accurate and ensure issues reach the right owner.
The role requires a careful, methodical approach to troubleshooting and communication. You will verify what viewers are experiencing, collect useful evidence and follow approved recovery procedures, documenting both the immediate action and the underlying issue. You will also help maintain delivery checklists and service reports. Any required coverage outside standard hours will be discussed during hiring and scheduling; operational responsibilities should be clear before they are assigned.
Responsibilities
- Monitor approved streaming workflows and review alerts, playback checks and delivery status at the agreed operating cadence.
- Validate scheduled or newly published content for playback, metadata, captions and destination readiness.
- Investigate reported playback failures by collecting timestamps, affected devices, stream details and relevant logs.
- Follow documented recovery procedures and escalate unresolved issues to engineering or external service owners.
- Coordinate planned changes and content updates with scheduling and distribution colleagues to reduce avoidable interruptions.
- Maintain incident records that distinguish symptoms, affected services, actions taken and confirmed resolution.
- Prepare operational reports on delivery exceptions, repeated faults and areas where monitoring needs improvement.
- Update runbooks and support technical validation of workflow changes before they become routine operating practice.
Required qualifications
- At least two years of streaming, media operations, technical support or comparable service-monitoring experience.
- Practical understanding of digital video playback, encoding basics and common streaming delivery components.
- Ability to follow a structured troubleshooting process and collect useful evidence from logs or monitoring tools.
- Strong attention to detail in schedules, metadata, incident notes and operational handoffs.
- Clear communication during service issues; a relevant degree, technical training or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience supporting live streams, on-demand catalogs or connected-TV playback.
- Familiarity with HLS, caption files and testing across browser or device environments.
- Experience maintaining runbooks, monitoring dashboards or small scripts for repetitive operational checks.
Measures of success
- Streaming issues are detected, described and escalated with useful evidence.
- Content readiness checks catch preventable playback or metadata problems before publication.
- Operational handoffs and incident records allow another colleague to understand service state.
- Repeated issues lead to improved procedures or clear engineering follow-up.
First 90 days
Review the current streaming workflows, delivery destinations and monitoring tools during the first 90 days. Learn the escalation paths and reproduce common checks in a controlled setting. Take ownership of agreed monitoring and readiness tasks, document an incident or validation exercise, and improve a runbook based on observed gaps. Recommend a small set of checks that address the most frequent service risks.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $65,000–$90,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
What to include in your application
Provide a nonconfidential example of a playback or service issue you investigated. Explain the evidence you collected, how you narrowed the problem and how you confirmed recovery.
