Position summary

The Senior Product Designer turns customer needs into usable product experiences across LSO Workplace and LSO Playout. Reporting to the Vice President, Software Products, you will work directly with both product directors and their engineers. You will help a workplace administrator complete everyday tasks and help a broadcast operator understand what is happening on a channel, with designs suited to each context.

You will own discovery research, workflow design, prototypes and the evolving interface system. AI-assisted research organization and prototyping can support your process, but decisions must remain grounded in real user evidence, accessibility and the behavior of the finished product. This is an individual contributor role with broad ownership and close involvement in implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct focused research with prospective workplace customers and broadcast or streaming operators.
  • Map priority tasks, roles and failure states, turning findings into clear journeys and information architecture.
  • Create prototypes that help the directors test product scope and explain interaction choices before implementation.
  • Design accessible navigation, forms, calendars, dashboards and operational controls, including keyboard use and readable status information.
  • Define understandable loading, permission, error, offline and recovery experiences with engineering.
  • Develop a practical component and content system that supports consistency while respecting each product's different workflows.
  • Use AI tools for appropriate design and prototyping tasks while protecting participant information and checking the resulting content and interactions.
  • Test proposed workflows with users, document findings and prioritize changes with the product directors.
  • Review implemented interfaces with engineers and QA, resolving gaps between prototypes and actual behavior.
  • Support onboarding and help content so customers can begin using the products without unnecessary assistance.

Required qualifications

  • A portfolio demonstrating product design for complex software workflows and explaining the research and decisions behind the work.
  • Substantial experience in digital product design, typically five or more years, including direct collaboration with engineers.
  • Practical skill in interaction design, information architecture, prototyping and usability testing.
  • Experience designing for accessibility, permissions, errors and other states beyond an ideal-path demonstration.
  • Experience using AI-assisted design or prototyping tools with critical evaluation of their output.
  • Clear communication and relevant design education or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with business administration, scheduling, media production or operational monitoring interfaces.
  • Ability to prototype in HTML, CSS or a component-based frontend framework.
  • Experience establishing a small, maintainable design system for an early product.

Measures of success

  • Design priorities reflect real customer tasks and support the agreed initial product scope.
  • Usability tests show improvement in task completion, comprehension and error recovery.
  • Implemented interfaces meet agreed accessibility and consistency criteria.
  • Engineers receive clear designs and timely answers that support delivery.

First 90 days

Meet both product teams, plan a small set of customer interviews and map the most important workflows. Produce and test prototypes for one priority workflow in each product, establish a shared interface foundation and agree a recurring implementation review with the directors and QA engineer.

Compensation

Proposed annual base salary of $110,000–$150,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.

What to include in your application

Provide one or two nonconfidential case studies explaining the problem, your contribution, research findings and the implemented result. If AI tools were used, explain what they contributed and what you changed after reviewing their output.
