Position summary
LSO Media Group is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to help develop LSO Workplace, a forthcoming platform for workplace management, analytics, and employee engagement. This full-time position reports to the Director of Product & Engineering, LSO Workplace. You will own frontend implementation for agreed product areas, turning customer research and product requirements into interfaces that busy administrators and employees can use with confidence.
The initial work will focus on validating practical workflows for small and midsize organizations, including configurable administration, workplace resources, and understandable reporting. You will work closely with design, backend, and integration colleagues to establish reusable components and clear interaction patterns. You will use AI coding assistants and development agents where they improve delivery, while remaining responsible for the resulting code, accessibility, testing, and maintainability. Product decisions and launch scope will develop through discovery and prototype evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Own the frontend design and implementation of prioritized administration and employee workflows, from early prototypes through reviewed, maintainable code.
- Build reusable components for navigation, forms, tables, filtering, resource selection, and status messages, documenting consistent behavior and appropriate use.
- Implement accessible interactions, including keyboard operation, understandable validation, focus management, and support for assistive technologies.
- Work with backend engineers on API contracts, permission-aware presentation, loading states, error recovery, and synchronization of changing information.
- Present workplace analytics with clear definitions, appropriate context, and understandable empty or incomplete-data states.
- Use AI development tools to accelerate bounded implementation and investigation tasks; inspect generated code, verify dependencies, and validate changes before they are accepted.
- Create focused automated checks for consequential user journeys and collaborate with quality engineers on regression coverage and browser compatibility.
- Measure and improve frontend responsiveness, bundle size, and rendering performance using evidence from realistic workflows.
- Participate in customer research and usability reviews, record findings, and explain technical tradeoffs to the product director and other contributors.
Required qualifications
- At least five years of professional frontend engineering experience, including ownership of substantial features in a production web application.
- Strong JavaScript or TypeScript skills and experience with a modern component framework, such as React, Vue, or an equivalent approach.
- Demonstrated ability to build accessible forms, data-rich interfaces, responsive layouts, and reliable interactions with backend services.
- Hands-on use of AI coding assistants or development agents, with a clear process for reviewing generated code, checking assumptions, and testing the resulting behavior.
- Experience with version control, collaborative code review, automated testing, and diagnosing browser performance or reliability issues.
- A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, together with clear written and verbal communication.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience building administration, scheduling, resource booking, or other business workflow applications for small and midsize customers.
- Experience contributing to a design system and testing interfaces with screen readers or other assistive technologies.
- Experience designing interfaces for configurable permissions, third-party integrations, or human review of proposed automated actions.
Measures of success
- Representative users can complete priority workflows with clear feedback and few avoidable errors.
- Shared components make new features consistent and straightforward to maintain.
- Frontend changes meet agreed accessibility, performance, and regression criteria before release decisions.
- AI-assisted contributions receive documented review and produce understandable code with verified behavior.
First 90 days
During your first 90 days, you will review customer needs with the product director, help select the initial frontend approach, and map the most important administrator and employee journeys. You will establish a small reusable component foundation, implement a working prototype of one agreed workflow, and test it with representative users. You will document accessibility and integration gaps, add focused regression checks, and recommend the next delivery milestones based on what the prototype demonstrates.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $125,000–$165,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
What to include in your application
Please include a nonconfidential project example explaining how you used an AI coding assistant or development agent, what you personally built or reviewed, and how you validated the result. A concise written walkthrough is welcome when source code cannot be shared; no specific AI vendor certification is required.
