Position summary
The Market Expansion Manager helps LSO Media Group determine where its portfolio businesses should grow next and what entering those markets would require. This role evaluates new geographies, customer segments and adjacent commercial opportunities using market research, customer evidence and operating analysis. You will turn broad growth ideas into specific choices about demand, competition, investment and the company’s ability to execute.
You will develop market-entry recommendations and coordinate approved pilots with brand leadership, finance, legal and operations. The work includes testing assumptions, identifying local requirements and measuring early results against agreed criteria. You will recommend whether to expand, revise or stop a proposed approach, with decisions grounded in evidence and commitments subject to the company’s approval process.
Responsibilities
- Develop a prioritized view of potential markets and customer segments based on portfolio strategy, demand indicators and the company’s existing capabilities.
- Research market size, competitive conditions, customer behavior, route-to-market options and the practical barriers a new entrant would face.
- Conduct customer and stakeholder discovery to test whether an apparent market opportunity reflects a clear need and willingness to engage.
- Build market-entry business cases that explain expected economics, investment requirements, delivery capacity, dependencies and major sources of uncertainty.
- Work with legal and relevant operating specialists to identify licensing, contractual or other market-specific requirements before launch decisions are made.
- Compare entry approaches, including direct delivery, channel relationships and local partnerships, documenting the tradeoffs and execution requirements of each.
- Develop phased go-to-market plans covering target customers, positioning, commercial channels, operating support and decision milestones.
- Coordinate approved pilots with clear budgets, owners, measures and stop-or-expand criteria, ensuring participating teams understand their responsibilities.
- Analyze pilot results and recommend changes to the offering, target segment, channel strategy or investment level based on the evidence collected.
- Maintain a reusable record of market findings and entry lessons, handing successful approaches to the leaders responsible for ongoing operations.
Required qualifications
- Four or more years of experience in market expansion, commercial strategy, market research, consulting or a comparable growth-focused role.
- Experience assessing new markets and developing practical recommendations that account for both customer demand and operating requirements.
- Strong research and analytical skills, including market sizing, competitor analysis and basic commercial modeling.
- Ability to design focused pilots and interpret results without treating untested assumptions as established facts.
- Experience coordinating work across commercial, financial and operating teams, with clear written recommendations and project tracking.
- A degree in business, economics, marketing or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience launching a business offering in a new geographic market or customer segment.
- Experience comparing direct, partner-led and channel-based approaches to market entry.
- Exposure to multiple industries, including at least one of LSO Media Group’s operating sectors.
Measures of success
- A prioritized expansion agenda supported by credible market and customer evidence.
- Entry recommendations that make costs, dependencies and uncertainties explicit.
- Pilots that answer defined business questions within approved resources.
- Clear decisions to expand, adjust or stop, followed by practical operating handoffs.
First 90 days
During your first 90 days, you will learn the portfolio’s capabilities and growth priorities, review available market research and identify the most consequential evidence gaps. You will build a market-prioritization framework and complete an initial assessment of selected opportunities. Working with the relevant business leaders, you will propose one or more focused pilot plans with defined resource needs, decision criteria and accountable owners.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $90,000–$125,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
