Position summary
LSO Media Group is seeking an Integrations & Workplace Systems Engineer to help LSO Workplace fit the tools and operating needs of small and midsize organizations. This full-time position reports to the Director of Product & Engineering, LSO Workplace. You will own the technical implementation of selected integrations, from assessing provider capabilities through authentication, synchronization, error handling, and customer setup documentation.
Initial discovery will examine calendar, identity, and workplace resource data, with provider choices determined by customer needs and technical evidence. You may also evaluate occupancy or environmental sensors where a clear customer use case justifies them. That work will emphasize aggregated information, data minimization, and transparent administration. You will use AI development tools with direct engineering oversight, and work with backend, frontend, platform, and product colleagues to ensure each connection is understandable, recoverable, and supportable.
Responsibilities
- Assess customer integration needs and provider capabilities, documenting supported operations, permission requirements, commercial dependencies, and implementation limits.
- Implement connectors for prioritized calendar, identity, directory, or resource systems using documented APIs and supported authentication methods.
- Design secure connection setup, token storage and rotation, permission scopes, and disconnection behavior with backend and platform colleagues.
- Build reliable synchronization using appropriate webhooks or polling, with rate-limit handling, retries, deduplication, and clear reconciliation rules.
- Map external data into consistent internal models while preserving source identifiers, update ownership, and traceable synchronization outcomes.
- Create useful connection health signals and administrative error messages so customers and support colleagues can identify and resolve common problems.
- Evaluate possible occupancy or environmental data sources for accuracy, installation demands, data minimization, aggregation, and customer value before recommending adoption.
- Use AI coding assistants and development agents to support connector development, while reviewing generated code and validating behavior against provider documentation and realistic test cases.
- Maintain setup guides, integration tests, provider change notes, and escalation documentation, and collaborate on limited pilots when approved.
Required qualifications
- At least four years of software engineering or systems integration experience, including implementation and support of production API connections.
- Strong programming skills in a language such as TypeScript, Python, Go, or an equivalent language, plus practical experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and asynchronous processing.
- Experience with OAuth or comparable authorization flows, scoped permissions, secrets handling, and reliable synchronization across systems.
- Demonstrable use of AI coding assistants or development agents, with independent review of generated integrations, automated checks, and verification against authoritative API documentation.
- Ability to diagnose rate limits, stale data, duplicate events, identity mismatches, and partial failures, and communicate recovery steps clearly.
- A degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with careful technical documentation skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience integrating business platforms such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or an identity provider; these are examples rather than a committed product stack.
- Experience with directory provisioning, enterprise sign-on, room or desk booking, or configurable workplace resource systems.
- Experience evaluating occupancy or environmental sensors, device connectivity, and aggregated operational data without unnecessary personal tracking.
Measures of success
- Prioritized connections synchronize accurately within documented limits and recover predictably from common failures.
- Administrators understand the information a connection accesses, its current health, and how to remove it.
- Integration documentation and diagnostic signals enable repeatable setup and efficient support.
- Recommendations for new data sources are supported by customer value, technical validation, and a proportionate approach to privacy.
First 90 days
During your first 90 days, you will map likely customer systems, compare candidate providers, and agree on an initial connector with the product director. You will build and demonstrate a limited integration using test accounts, validate authentication and synchronization failure cases, and write a repeatable setup guide. You will also document a prioritized integration roadmap and, where justified by discovery, an initial assessment of occupancy data options and their installation and privacy implications.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $120,000–$165,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
What to include in your application
Please include a nonconfidential example of an integration you built, describing authentication, data synchronization, and recovery from failure. Explain any AI development tools you used and how you validated their output; a written walkthrough is welcome, and no specific AI vendor certification is required.
