Position summary
The Financial Education Program Manager develops learning experiences for the Credit & Financial Counseling division. Reporting to the Director of Client Services, you will turn approved educational topics into workshops, resources and facilitator guidance. The work will focus on helping participants understand financial concepts and evaluate their next steps, with content adapted to the audience's needs and the division's approved program scope.
You will combine subject knowledge with instructional design and careful program coordination. Topics may include household budgeting, understanding credit information and preparing questions for a qualified adviser. You will review materials with relevant specialists, make the limits of general education clear and use participant feedback to improve instruction. Program success will be measured through learning and service evidence rather than guaranteed changes to credit scores or personal finances.
Responsibilities
- Assess participant learning needs with the client services team and define specific objectives for approved education topics.
- Develop plain-language workshop plans, exercises and take-home resources using reviewed and traceable source material.
- Coordinate subject-matter and Legal review where content requires clarification of scope or specialist expertise.
- Prepare facilitator guides and train colleagues to explain concepts consistently and respond appropriately to questions outside their role.
- Schedule approved workshops or learning sessions and coordinate participant communication with intake staff.
- Adapt materials for different levels of financial knowledge and identify accessibility or language-support needs.
- Evaluate learning through suitable exercises, feedback and completion records while minimizing collection of personal financial information.
- Maintain content versions and review dates, revising lessons when evidence, program needs or approved guidance changes.
Required qualifications
- Experience in financial education, adult learning or program management, typically four or more years.
- Working knowledge of budgeting and credit education, supported by relevant training or certification appropriate to assigned content.
- Ability to write clear learning materials and facilitate discussion for audiences with varied experience.
- Experience organizing programs and evaluating whether participants met defined learning objectives.
- Sound judgment about the difference between general education and advice requiring a qualified professional.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience developing financial capability workshops or community education programs.
- Training in instructional design, adult education or accessible learning materials.
- Experience creating recorded or digital learning resources with production colleagues.
Measures of success
- Each program has clear learning objectives and reviewed, understandable materials.
- Facilitators can deliver content consistently and refer questions beyond their scope.
- Participant evidence identifies what was learned and where the program needs improvement.
First 90 days
Review the division's approved education priorities and participant needs with the Director of Client Services. Create a curriculum outline and content review process, then develop an initial workshop with exercises and facilitator guidance. Test the material with an appropriate review group, revise it based on feedback and establish a practical evaluation method before proposing a broader program schedule.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $70,000–$95,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
What to include in your application
Share a nonconfidential example of educational material or a program you developed. Explain the audience, learning goals and how you assessed understanding, and list relevant training or credentials.
