Position summary
LSO Media Group is seeking a Vice President, Credit & Financial Counseling to lead its portfolio businesses providing financial literacy and credit counseling services. This full-time position reports to the President of Consumer Services and is accountable for the division's operating performance, financial results, service quality, and development. You will translate corporate priorities into practical business plans and support company leaders in delivering them.
You will oversee subsidiary and company leaders within delegated authority, with clear expectations for budgets, client service, staff capability, and performance reporting. The role combines commercial judgment with close attention to the experiences of people using the division's services. Working with the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Legal Officer, and Corporate Development, you will evaluate investment needs, support acquisition decisions, and guide integration while maintaining appropriate standards for client communications and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Own the division's profit and loss performance, annual operating plan, and longer-term priorities, presenting results and corrective actions to the President of Consumer Services.
- Set objectives for subsidiary and company leaders within delegated authority, reviewing performance and addressing gaps in execution, capacity, and management capability.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and capital requests with the Chief Financial Officer, documenting expected returns, costs, assumptions, and material risks.
- Establish service quality measures for financial literacy and credit counseling activities, using client feedback, complaints, and service reviews to identify improvements.
- Define realistic client outcome measures that reflect the services provided and support accurate reporting without promising particular credit scores or financial results.
- Work with the Chief Legal Officer and relevant specialists to address applicable requirements, review service practices, and ensure compliance concerns reach the appropriate decision-makers.
- Evaluate opportunities to improve service access, referral relationships, and business development, ensuring proposals fit the division's capabilities and approved strategy.
- Support Corporate Development with acquisition diligence, including assessment of operating models, leadership capacity, service quality, financial assumptions, and integration needs.
- Lead approved integration plans with company leaders and corporate functions, assigning responsibilities and tracking operational, financial, and service milestones.
- Oversee staffing plans, leadership development, and operating systems, identifying opportunities to share resources where they improve service or business performance.
- Maintain clear executive reporting and escalation practices for financial variances, significant complaints, service failures, and other material business issues.
Required qualifications
- At least ten years of relevant experience in credit counseling, financial education, consumer services, or a closely related business environment.
- At least five years in senior leadership with responsibility for business performance, operating plans, and the management of experienced leaders.
- Demonstrated accountability for a profit and loss statement, budgeting, forecasting, and decisions involving costs, staffing, and investment.
- Experience improving service quality and using client feedback and operational data to address recurring problems.
- Ability to work effectively with finance, legal, and corporate development colleagues while respecting professional responsibilities and approval requirements.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with sound judgment when balancing commercial objectives, client needs, and operational constraints.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience overseeing multiple businesses, locations, or service teams within a larger corporate group.
- Experience assessing acquisitions or leading operational integration following a business combination.
- Experience developing financial literacy programs, counseling service standards, or practical measures of client progress.
Measures of success
- Operating companies deliver against agreed financial and service plans, with timely action when performance falls short.
- Company leaders have clear responsibilities, appropriate support, and consistent performance expectations.
- Service reviews and client feedback produce documented improvements, with material issues escalated and resolved.
- Investment and growth proposals rest on credible assumptions and lead to measurable operating results.
First 90 days
During your first 90 days, you will meet company leaders, review financial performance and service practices, and establish a clear picture of the division's strengths and immediate priorities. With the President of Consumer Services and corporate colleagues, you will agree on performance measures, reporting expectations, and decision authorities, then develop an operating agenda covering service improvements, leadership needs, and the most pressing investment decisions.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $175,000–$235,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
