The director turns approved priorities into operating plans, reporting routines and accountable decisions.

This position coordinates shared services, vendor relationships, procurement standards, business continuity and operational performance reviews. The director works with Finance to understand costs and results and helps company leaders resolve issues across organizational boundaries. Success requires sound judgment about which processes should be consistent across the group and where different business models require different approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Establish monthly and quarterly operating reviews with company leaders, using consistent measures, documented decisions and clear ownership of follow-up actions.
  • Translate approved corporate priorities into portfolio operating plans with realistic milestones, dependencies, budgets and escalation paths agreed with the responsible leaders.
  • Coordinate shared services across Finance, Legal, business development and company operations, clarifying service expectations and resolving gaps in responsibility.
  • Work with Finance to evaluate operating costs, capacity and performance; explain significant variances and track agreed corrective actions.
  • Develop practical procurement and vendor-management standards, including approval workflows, service reviews, renewal planning and purchasing coordination where beneficial.
  • Support brand vice presidents and company leaders in removing operational bottlenecks while preserving their responsibility for managing their businesses.
  • Maintain portfolio-level business continuity plans with the relevant teams, identify critical dependencies and coordinate exercises and updates.
  • Oversee the operational execution of approved integration plans, ensuring the Operations & Integration Manager has clear priorities and timely decisions.
  • Prepare concise operating reports for the CEO that distinguish performance trends, unresolved risks, resource needs and decisions requiring executive attention.
  • Improve operating policies and documentation with the appropriate subject-matter owners, ensuring changes are usable, communicated and reviewed after implementation.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least eight years of relevant operational experience, including responsibility for coordinating work across multiple business units, locations or functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish operating routines, translate priorities into executable plans and follow through on measurable improvements.
  • Strong financial literacy, including experience working with budgets, cost drivers, forecasts and operating performance reports in partnership with Finance.
  • Experience managing vendor performance, procurement processes or shared services, with sound judgment about cost, service quality and continuity.
  • Clear written communication, effective facilitation and the ability to resolve competing priorities with senior stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in a holding company, diversified group or organization with several independently managed businesses.
  • Exposure to acquisition integration, business continuity planning or operating-model changes.
  • Experience in one or more of the portfolio’s sectors, with the ability to learn unfamiliar business models.

Measures of success

  • Operating reviews produce timely decisions and completed actions across participating companies.
  • Shared-service responsibilities and escalation routes are understood and used consistently.
  • Cost and service improvements are documented with Finance and sustained after implementation.
  • Critical vendors, dependencies and continuity arrangements have clear owners and current documentation.

First 90 days

Meet company and corporate leaders, map operating routines and identify consequential coordination gaps. Establish a baseline with Finance, propose a portfolio review cadence and agree on initial improvements with the CEO. Begin implementation with named owners, achievable milestones and a method for assessing results.

Compensation

Proposed annual base salary of $110,000–$150,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
