Position summary
The Director of Corporate Development leads the evaluation of acquisitions, minority investments and other ownership opportunities for LSO Media Group. Working across media and entertainment, hospitality, credit and financial counseling, and consumer goods procurement, this role connects potential transactions to the company’s strategy, financial capacity and operating priorities. The position requires sound judgment about both an opportunity’s potential and the reasons to decline it.
You will manage the process from initial screening through diligence, executive review and handoff to the people responsible for integration or investment oversight. You will work with finance, legal, operations and brand leadership to present balanced recommendations. Transaction terms, funding commitments and final investment decisions remain subject to the company’s approval process.
Responsibilities
- Translate corporate priorities into an acquisition and investment screening framework, with clear criteria for strategic fit, financial performance and operational feasibility.
- Develop and maintain a qualified opportunity pipeline through targeted research, industry relationships, intermediaries and direct conversations with prospective counterparties.
- Lead valuation work, financial modeling and scenario analysis, including cash requirements, downside exposure, ownership structure and sensitivity to key assumptions.
- Coordinate commercial, financial, operational and legal diligence, ensuring findings are documented and unresolved issues reach the appropriate decision-makers.
- Prepare investment memoranda that explain the business, proposed economics, material risks, alternatives and conditions required before proceeding.
- Support transaction negotiations with executive leadership and legal advisers, maintaining a clear record of proposed terms and approval requirements.
- Evaluate minority investments separately from control acquisitions, considering governance rights, information access, liquidity and the company’s ability to influence outcomes.
- Develop practical transition and integration plans with operations and brand leaders before a transaction advances to final approval.
- Track approved transactions against their original investment assumptions and recommend corrective action when performance or strategic conditions change.
- Maintain confidential deal records, consistent pipeline reporting and a disciplined review process that prevents activity from substituting for investment quality.
Required qualifications
- Eight or more years of relevant experience in corporate development, transaction advisory, investment analysis, private investment or a comparable commercial finance role.
- Demonstrated responsibility for substantive transaction evaluation, diligence and executive recommendations, with examples of your individual contribution.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation and accounting literacy, including the ability to test incomplete or conflicting business information.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional work involving finance, legal and operating teams while managing confidential information.
- Clear written communication, credible negotiation skills and the judgment to identify when an opportunity should stop progressing.
- A degree in finance, economics, business or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience evaluating both controlling acquisitions and minority investments in privately held businesses.
- Exposure to more than one of LSO Media Group’s operating sectors or another diversified company.
- Experience with integration planning, investment monitoring or portfolio-level capital allocation.
Measures of success
- An opportunity pipeline aligned with agreed strategic and financial priorities.
- Decision materials that make assumptions, risks and funding needs easy to assess.
- Diligence and approval processes completed without avoidable gaps or surprises.
- Clear operating handoffs and measurable follow-through after approved transactions.
First 90 days
During your first 90 days, you will review the portfolio and corporate priorities, meet the leaders involved in investment decisions and assess the existing opportunity pipeline. You will propose consistent screening criteria, a diligence workflow and an investment memorandum format. You will then apply those tools to priority opportunities and establish a reporting cadence that makes decisions and next steps clear.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $125,000–$170,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
