Position summary
LSO Media Group is seeking a Director of Advertising Sales to build a disciplined sales program around the advertising and sponsorship opportunities the company can deliver. Reporting to Samantha Phillips, President of Sales, you will guide prospecting, proposals, account planning and revenue forecasting across the media portfolio. You will work with brand and distribution leaders to understand inventory, audiences and operational constraints before making commitments.
This role combines sales leadership with direct involvement in important opportunities. You will help advertisers identify suitable placements and campaign objectives, ensure proposals use supported audience information and coordinate reliable execution after a sale. You will establish clear expectations for the sales team, maintain pricing and approval discipline, and protect the separation between commercial arrangements and editorial decisions. Success depends on durable advertiser relationships and deliverable agreements as well as new business.
Responsibilities
- Develop an advertising sales plan with defined customer segments, account priorities and targets agreed with the President of Sales.
- Lead prospecting, qualification and proposal activity, coaching colleagues on discovery and evidence-based recommendations.
- Maintain a current understanding of available inventory, creative requirements and delivery capacity with brand and operations owners.
- Set proposal and pricing practices within approved authority, escalating discounts, nonstandard terms and unusual commitments.
- Review audience claims and campaign promises for support, ensuring commercial materials accurately describe the offering.
- Manage pipeline reviews and forecasts using documented deal stages, next steps and realistic close assumptions.
- Coordinate contract review, campaign handoff and performance discussions with Legal, Finance, advertising operations and account colleagues.
- Develop renewal and account-growth plans that reflect advertiser outcomes while preserving editorial independence.
Required qualifications
- At least seven years of advertising, media or related commercial sales experience, including team or program leadership.
- A record of developing accounts, negotiating commercial proposals and maintaining customer relationships through delivery.
- Understanding of advertising inventory, campaign objectives and the practical limits of audience measurement.
- Experience maintaining sales forecasts, pricing discipline and an organized customer relationship management process.
- Strong negotiation and coaching skills; a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience selling across television, streaming, digital media or sponsorship offerings.
- Experience building a sales process for a growing media organization or portfolio of brands.
- Experience coordinating advertiser relationships with editorial, legal and campaign operations teams.
Measures of success
- The sales pipeline contains qualified opportunities with clear owners and credible next steps.
- Commercial agreements match available inventory, approved terms and delivery capacity.
- Revenue and retention progress can be assessed against agreed targets and forecast assumptions.
- Advertisers receive clear expectations, dependable handoffs and useful performance discussions.
First 90 days
During the first 90 days, review current offerings, inventory constraints, account records and sales materials with Samantha Phillips and brand leaders. Define priority segments, a consistent qualification process and proposal approval rules. Establish a pipeline review cadence, develop a targeted account plan and guide initial opportunities through documented handoff. Present a sales plan that connects targets to available inventory and team capacity.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $115,000–$155,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
What to include in your application
Include a nonconfidential example of a media sales program or account portfolio you led. Explain your role, the sales cycle, how you forecast results and how you kept advertiser commitments aligned with delivery.
