Position summary
LSO Media Group is seeking a Content Acquisitions & Licensing Manager to support the evaluation, coordination and administration of content opportunities across its media portfolio. Reporting to the Director of Content Distribution, you will work with brand and editorial leaders to identify programming needs, assess proposed material and develop commercial recommendations. Legal will own legal interpretation and contract approval; you will supply organized business terms, rights information and operational requirements.
You will maintain the records that make a licensing agreement usable in practice: which content is covered, where it may appear, how long the rights last and what delivery or reporting obligations apply. You will coordinate with scheduling and distribution teams so approved uses remain within those boundaries. The role calls for thoughtful evaluation, accurate documentation and constructive relationships with content owners, without assuming that an attractive program is cleared for every platform or territory.
Responsibilities
- Gather programming needs from brand and editorial leaders and maintain a prioritized list of potential content opportunities.
- Evaluate proposed content for audience fit, availability, delivery readiness and commercial feasibility with the relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare acquisition or licensing recommendations that describe proposed rights, costs, restrictions and operational requirements.
- Coordinate business-term discussions within approved authority and route agreements to Legal for review and approval.
- Maintain rights records covering titles, territories, platforms, windows, exclusivity, promotional uses and reporting obligations.
- Check proposed scheduling and distribution uses against the approved rights record, escalating ambiguity before release.
- Track renewals, expirations, delivery materials and contract-related reporting deadlines with responsible teams.
- Maintain content-owner relationships and document issues affecting rights, materials or the performance of an agreement.
Required qualifications
- At least four years of content licensing, acquisitions, rights administration or related media business experience.
- Experience reading commercial content agreements and translating approved terms into practical rights records.
- Ability to evaluate content opportunities using audience, cost and operational considerations.
- Strong attention to territory, platform, timing and usage restrictions across multiple titles or agreements.
- Clear negotiation preparation and stakeholder communication; a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with television, streaming, digital video or film distribution rights.
- Experience coordinating with editorial leaders, legal counsel and programming operations.
- Experience establishing a rights tracker, renewal calendar or content acquisition review process.
Measures of success
- Content recommendations clearly explain audience fit, costs and the proposed scope of rights.
- Scheduling and distribution teams can determine authorized uses from maintained records.
- Expirations, renewals and reporting requirements are addressed before their deadlines.
- Ambiguous or incomplete rights information is resolved before content is released.
First 90 days
During the first 90 days, meet brand, editorial, legal and distribution owners to understand programming priorities and the current rights workflow. Review available licensing records and create a prioritized list of gaps or upcoming deadlines. Establish an acquisition review template and a rights register, then evaluate an initial content opportunity through the agreed approval process. Confirm how scheduling teams will receive rights changes and expiration alerts.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $85,000–$115,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
What to include in your application
Provide a nonconfidential example of a licensing or acquisitions project. Explain your responsibility for evaluating the opportunity, organizing rights information and coordinating legal and operational review.
