Position summary
The Business Process Analyst will study how work moves between teams and help owners improve the steps that slow it down. Reporting to the Director of Portfolio Operations, you will examine workflows such as hiring handoffs, purchase approvals, customer onboarding and internal reporting. Your recommendations will begin with observed work and measurable problems rather than an assumed need for new tools.
You will translate conversations and operating records into clear process maps, requirements and implementation plans. Some improvements may involve approved automation or AI assistance; others will be better documentation or fewer handoffs. You will work with the responsible teams to test changes and confirm that the revised process actually works under everyday conditions.
Responsibilities
- Interview process owners and observe representative work to identify delays, unclear decisions and repeated errors.
- Map current workflows, including handoffs, required information, systems and exception paths.
- Establish baseline measures and agree practical improvement goals with the accountable business owner.
- Translate proposed changes into requirements, acceptance criteria and implementation responsibilities.
- Evaluate where automation is suitable, documenting human review points and sensitive-data constraints.
- Coordinate small pilots with relevant systems or engineering colleagues and collect user feedback.
- Update operating procedures and help managers prepare affected employees for changes.
- Measure results after implementation and report unresolved problems or unintended effects.
Required qualifications
- Experience in business analysis, process improvement, operations analysis or a similar function.
- Ability to document workflows and distinguish symptoms from underlying causes.
- Experience gathering requirements and coordinating changes across several teams.
- Comfortable analysis of operational records and basic performance measures.
- Clear writing, practical facilitation and a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience improving workflows in media, software or professional services organizations.
- Familiarity with low-code automation tools and responsible use of AI-assisted workflows.
- Experience facilitating process workshops or supporting business-system implementations.
Measures of success
- Process maps reflect actual work and include exceptions and decision ownership.
- Proposed improvements address a measured problem with clear acceptance criteria.
- Employees can follow the revised workflow and find the information they need.
- Post-change reviews show whether the intended improvement occurred.
First 90 days
Identify priority workflows with Portfolio Operations and select one suitable for a focused improvement. Document its current state, gather baseline evidence and agree the desired outcome with its owner. Run a limited pilot, record user feedback and measure the result. Deliver an updated procedure and a sequenced list of subsequent improvements.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $75,000–$105,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
What to include in your application
Describe a process you improved, the evidence behind your diagnosis and the change you tested. Explain how you measured the result and handled any unexpected effects.
