Position summary

The Business Development Manager identifies and develops new business opportunities for LSO Media Group and its portfolio. This role combines targeted prospecting, careful qualification and practical commercial planning. You will learn what each participating business can deliver, identify organizations with relevant needs and build proposals grounded in customer value, delivery capacity and sustainable economics.

You will own the day-to-day progression of assigned opportunities from research and outreach through discovery, proposal and handoff. Working with brand leaders, finance, legal and operations, you will coordinate the information needed to make credible commitments. The role requires consistent follow-through, accurate pipeline reporting and a willingness to disqualify opportunities that do not fit the company’s capabilities or priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Build prospect lists around agreed customer profiles, commercial priorities and the capabilities of the portfolio businesses involved.
  • Conduct relevant, well-prepared outreach and discovery conversations that establish a prospect’s needs, decision process, timing and ability to proceed.
  • Qualify opportunities using consistent criteria, recording the evidence supporting each stage and the actions required to advance or close the opportunity.
  • Develop tailored proposals with the responsible business teams, clearly explaining scope, customer outcomes, delivery assumptions and commercial terms.
  • Coordinate pricing and margin review with finance and operating leaders before presenting terms that require company approval.
  • Organize commercial pilots with defined objectives, resources, decision criteria and a clear path to a broader engagement if results justify it.
  • Maintain accurate customer relationship management records, pipeline forecasts and activity reporting, separating confirmed information from estimates and assumptions.
  • Bring legal and operational questions to the appropriate reviewers and track dependencies that could affect timing or the proposed engagement.
  • Provide thorough handoffs after approval, ensuring delivery teams understand customer expectations, agreed scope, responsibilities and the history of the relationship.
  • Capture prospect feedback and reasons for wins, losses and stalled discussions to improve targeting, proposals and future commercial decisions.

Required qualifications

  • Four or more years of experience in business development, consultative sales, account development or a comparable commercial role.
  • Demonstrated experience developing new opportunities through structured outreach, discovery, proposals and commercial follow-through.
  • Ability to understand unfamiliar business offerings and connect them to a prospective customer’s specific needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including concise proposals and confident discussions with business decision-makers.
  • Working knowledge of pricing, margin and pipeline forecasting, with disciplined use of customer relationship management tools.
  • A degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience developing business across multiple service lines or portfolio companies.
  • Experience designing commercial pilots and coordinating customer handoffs to delivery teams.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the company’s media and non-media operating sectors.

Measures of success

  • A qualified pipeline supported by clear customer needs and realistic next steps.
  • Timely proposals with credible scope, pricing and delivery assumptions.
  • Commercial opportunities that meet agreed revenue, margin and fit criteria.
  • Accurate reporting and handoffs that preserve customer expectations and accountability.

First 90 days

During your first 90 days, you will learn the relevant portfolio offerings, review existing opportunities and agree on prospecting priorities with your manager. You will establish a consistent qualification process, create a targeted account list and begin structured outreach. You will also work with finance and operating teams to understand proposal approvals, pilot requirements and the information needed for a successful customer handoff.

Compensation

Proposed annual base salary of $90,000–$120,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
