Position summary

The Business Development Analyst provides the research and analysis behind LSO Media Group’s growth decisions. You will support corporate development, strategic partnerships, new business and market expansion by gathering reliable information, building useful models and explaining what the evidence means. Assignments may involve acquisition targets, potential partners, industry conditions, new customer segments or the performance of a commercial opportunity.

This role requires careful work with incomplete information and a clear distinction between verified facts, estimates and assumptions. You will collaborate with finance, legal, operations and brand leadership to understand the questions a decision needs to answer. Your output will help colleagues compare options, identify risks and decide which opportunities merit further attention and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Research companies, industries, competitors and potential partners using credible sources, recording where information came from and when it was obtained.
  • Build and maintain financial models for growth opportunities, including revenue assumptions, costs, margins, cash requirements and sensitivity to key variables.
  • Support acquisition and investment screening with company profiles, financial summaries, valuation inputs and concise assessments of strategic fit.
  • Develop market-sizing and customer-segment analyses with transparent methods, clear limitations and appropriate comparisons across available sources.
  • Prepare decision memoranda, presentations and supporting schedules that explain the opportunity, evidence, alternatives and questions requiring further investigation.
  • Assist diligence coordination by maintaining request lists, organizing incoming materials and highlighting gaps or inconsistencies for the responsible reviewers.
  • Analyze partnership proposals and commercial pilots, comparing proposed economics and actual results with the assumptions in the original business case.
  • Maintain pipeline and opportunity data, checking definitions and completeness so that management reporting remains consistent and useful.
  • Work with portfolio and corporate teams to clarify data requests, reconcile conflicting inputs and document the treatment of unresolved issues.
  • Improve reusable research templates, model documentation and reporting processes while protecting confidential company and counterparty information.

Required qualifications

  • Two or more years of relevant experience in business analysis, finance, research, consulting or corporate development; substantial equivalent project experience will be considered.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills and experience building structured models that other people can review and understand.
  • Working knowledge of financial statements, basic valuation concepts and the commercial factors that affect revenue, cost and cash flow.
  • Ability to evaluate sources, reconcile inconsistent information and clearly communicate the limits of an analysis.
  • Clear writing, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments with agreed priorities and deadlines.
  • A degree in finance, economics, business, statistics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience supporting transaction diligence, investment research or commercial strategy projects.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools, structured data analysis or customer relationship management reporting.
  • Exposure to a diversified company or one of LSO Media Group’s media or non-media sectors.

Measures of success

  • Accurate, traceable research delivered in time to support decisions.
  • Models with clear assumptions, useful scenarios and understandable documentation.
  • Decision materials that highlight material findings, risks and unanswered questions.
  • Reliable opportunity reporting and responsive support for cross-functional projects.

First 90 days

During your first 90 days, you will learn the portfolio, review the team’s existing research and models, and understand how opportunities move through review. You will complete initial company and market analyses, help improve reporting consistency and establish clear documentation for your work. You will also build relationships with the people who provide financial and operating inputs so that future analysis addresses the decisions they need to make.

Compensation

Proposed annual base salary of $70,000–$95,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
