Position summary
LSO Media Group is seeking an Audience Research & Insights Manager to help teams understand whom they reach, what those audiences need and which questions the available data can answer. Reporting to the Director of Brand Marketing, you will design research and interpret evidence across the media portfolio, advertising activity and prospective customers for LSO Workplace and LSO Playout. Your work will support decisions about positioning, promotion, partnerships and customer discovery.
You will combine quantitative analysis with practical interviews and surveys, choosing methods that fit the question and available resources. A key part of the role is protecting the meaning of the numbers: views, accounts, viewers and households are not interchangeable, and reach across platforms cannot be added without considering overlap. You will explain uncertainty plainly, document definitions and give colleagues findings they can act on without overstating what the evidence proves.
Responsibilities
- Develop a research agenda tied to specific marketing, audience, programming-promotion and product-discovery decisions.
- Define key measures and maintain a reference for their sources, units, coverage, limitations and appropriate use.
- Analyze platform and campaign data, checking completeness, unusual changes and comparability before reporting conclusions.
- Plan interviews and surveys with clear recruitment criteria, neutral questions and appropriate handling of participant information.
- Assess audience segments and customer needs using a combination of observed behavior and directly collected feedback.
- Review external-facing audience claims and sales materials for support, consistent definitions and transparent caveats.
- Present concise findings that separate observations, interpretations and proposed actions for decision-makers.
- Maintain reusable research records and follow up on decisions to assess whether subsequent evidence supports the initial recommendation.
Required qualifications
- At least four years of audience research, customer insights, marketing analytics or comparable applied research experience.
- Ability to analyze structured data with spreadsheets and an analytical tool such as SQL, Python, R or an equivalent workflow.
- Experience designing or evaluating surveys, interviews or other primary research with attention to sampling and question quality.
- Understanding of measurement definitions, missing data, attribution, overlap and the limits of observational evidence.
- Ability to explain findings clearly to nontechnical colleagues; a relevant degree or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with media audience measurement, streaming analytics or advertising effectiveness.
- Experience researching small and midsize business needs or early software product concepts.
- Experience building maintained research repositories, metric dictionaries or decision-focused dashboards.
Measures of success
- Teams use consistent audience and customer definitions in internal and external materials.
- Research answers priority business questions with clear methods and appropriate limits.
- Findings lead to documented decisions about campaigns, positioning or product discovery.
- Questionable data and unsupported claims are identified before they shape commitments.
First 90 days
Meet marketing, sales, distribution and product leaders during the first 90 days to identify the decisions they need to make. Inventory available data and document its quality, definitions and gaps. Complete an initial audience baseline and one focused research study, then present findings with specific implications and limitations. Agree a repeatable reporting cadence and a prioritized research backlog.
Compensation
Proposed annual base salary of $90,000–$125,000 USD. The final offer will reflect relevant experience, qualifications and the agreed scope of the position, subject to approval. This range covers base pay only; any incentive compensation or benefits would be specified separately in an employment offer.
What to include in your application
Provide a nonconfidential research or analysis example. Explain the business question, method, data limitations, your contribution and how the findings influenced a decision; a written summary is welcome when the original report cannot be shared.
